5 Year Anniversary

Andy and I celebrated our 5 year anniversary on Friday. I can't believe that we've been married for 5 years! Makes me feel so old. We definitely feel like the old married people in our ward. When we say we've been married 5 years we get some interesting looks. Not sure why...but oh well. We had a good weekend. We went to Tucson. Andy's sister has a timeshare there and so we got a night there in exchange for babysitting our niece and nephews the next day. We went all out Friday night with dinner from the Safeway deli and a movie. Not exactly high class....but that's what I love about being married to Andy. We can do anything together and we still have a blast doing it.

Who does that?

This is a rambling/venting post so...beware.

I would like to know what makes people so insecure that they need to take something that is personal and sensitive to another person and throw it in their face just to make themselves feel better. I mean seriously...taking people's problems or weaknesses or even just personal issues and using them just because you don't have anything better to say is just really low. What ever happened to "Hey...nice to talk to you" or "How's it going?". Even if you think you are being funny and think that it should be taken as a joke...chances are the other person probably won't take it that way. There is a difference between being sarcastic and being downright hurtful. Maybe if it was total strangers it would be one thing....you could just chalk it up to they don't know any better, but when it's your own family....thats what makes it so sad.

Okay...it's said, Im done. :)

Concert

Andy was nice enough to go with me to the Death Cab for Cutie concert last night. He was not real thrilled because it was ten THOUSAND degrees outside, but being the wonderful husband that he is he went anyways and we had a great time. Aside from the brief realization that our future might be in some weird hands, it was a great concert and we had a good night.

New Toy!!

I have been waiting forever to get this camera and I finally got it! I am so excited about my new toy! I feel sorry for anyone that has to spend more than 5 minutes with me though! If they thought I was bad about taking lots of pictures before....hide while you can.

Spur of the Moment

On the spur of the moment Andy and I decided to get away. We went down to this resort in Tucson for the night. It was incredible. Turns out they were filming a movie there at the same time, so we did a little star-stalking. Didn't get to see anyone famous though. Just a bunch of production assistants and trailers. It was still cool. Andy's sister, brother-in-law and niece and nephews came over to go swimming with us. It was a good night!

The view of all the movie production trailers...
which was right outside of our room.

Lesson Learned...

Tonight I went out with some friends for dinner to Texas Roadhouse. We have been planning this dinner all week, since the one friend went on maternity leave on Monday and we haven't seen her all week. We had already discussed what we wanted to order (Yes...that might sound lame to some...but we enjoyed it) and we were all very excited for this. So we got to the restaurant and after waiting 45 minutes for a table were finally ready to order this food that we had planned all week for. You should of seen the look on the face of our waitress when three girls ordered not one...but two major appetizers, 3 baskets of rolls and then full entrees complete with huge salads and loaded mashed potatoes as the sides. However, our plan backfired because by the time we had eaten through half of the potato skins and onion blossom we were starting to feel queasy. When the waitress finally brought our meals, we all just asked for to-go boxes. Lesson learned...Don't plan a meal a week in advance because you will clearly order too much and feel totally sick to your stomach afterwards. However, Andy was happy with the huge to-go box of chicken, potato skins and steak fries that I brought home with me.

Candyland....

There are certain days when I absolutely LOVE teaching First Grade! My kids crack me up with the things they say. We have been talking about money the last few weeks and we talked about how people use different types of money in different parts of the world. So today we were standing in line and I overheard these 2 kids talking about money. Now mind you that this was an entirely serious conversation.

Kid 1: What if we didn’t have real money and we had to use candy instead of money?

Kid 2 (dead serious): We can’t do that. If we did that than instead of living in America we’d have to live in……..CandyLand.

Kid 1 (seriously thinking this over): Oh.... yeah....

I love my students (99% of the time!!). Being a teacher is a GREAT job!!

Suns Game

Andy's birthday was January 4th and his brother's birthday is January 11th so my sister-in-law and I decided that for their birthdays we would make it a tradition to buy them tickets to a Sun's game. Of course the boys love it and don't really seem to mind that my SIL and I just talk through the whole thing. I really tried hard to pay attention to the first half and cheered whenever Steve Nash or Amaire Stoudamire (sp?) would make a shot! However, having girl talk with my SIL seems to always take precedence. I feel very lucky to have a great sister-in-law and brother-in-law. We have so much fun with them!! It's great! Well the Suns won which is FANTASTIC because I don't think I could of handled a long drive home with two angry men!!

Christmas!!

We were so excited to spend Christmas with my family up in Flagstaff this year. We haven't been up here for Christmas in a couple of years so we were more than ready to come up!! We were excited that there was a little snow on the ground! Nothing like a white Christmas! We spent Christmas Eve busy with family traditions....clam chowder and 'It's A Wonderful Life'.

My parents surprised us with a trip to this resort up in Southern Utah.

There was so much snow up there. It was BEAUTIFUL!! We went snowmobiling the first day we were up there. This was one of the trails we went on....

.....and this is the first time we crashed. Let me tell you...it's hard getting a 500 pound snowmobile out of 3 feet of soft powder.

After we finally got unstuck we found this huge, open field that we rode around in for awhile. It was a blast.

This was the view at the top of the mountain. We drove our snowmobiles right up the the edge of this cliff. It was so beautiful!!

We also went shooting. I actually shot this can which was surprising because I have terrible aim!!

We played lots of games, played in the snow and ate lots of food!! It was a great trip and a great way to spend Christmas!!! Thanks Mom and Dad!!!!

Christmas Tree

Andy and I decided that even though we weren't going to be in town for Christmas we still needed to get in the Christmas spirit by getting a tree and decorating!! We didn't decorate at ALL last year and it really bummed me out. So we went and got a little tree. Yes, it's lopsided and might actually be dead now, but we like it!! We have a tradition of getting an ornament every year we are married that sort of symbolizes something that happened that year....or one that we just like! We only have 5 of the "Special" ornaments and we tried to spiff up the rest of the tree with regular ornaments. It looks a little Charlie Brown tree like, but oh well! We had fun!!

We also put up our stockings! My awesome friend Ashley helped me make these! I love them!!!

I also FINALLY got to get out one of my favorite Christmas decorations! My village! I love it!! Hopefully it will be expanding as we get more room....it's too small!!

Anyways....I was just feeling in the Christmas mood and I am sure that everyone will be THRILLED to look at my Christmas decorations!! Hope everyone is getting in the Christmas spirit!!
